About Blue Planet Network’s Stories of Water

You, our Blue Planet Network community, told us you wanted to learn more about the groups who were members of our Network, as well as better understand what your support delivers in terms of real life benefits to those in need of safe drinking water.

As a result, and in partnership with PhotoPhilanthropy, a great organization that identifies photographers interested in contributing their skills to help non-profits around the world, we are launching “Stories of Water.”

“Stories of Water” is a periodic series that tracks our Blue Planet Network partners and the communities they work in around the world.  Volunteer photographers travel to remote villages to live with the communities and document the life-transforming changes that safe drinking water brings. They also document the ongoing struggle of the communities to ensure this water keeps up with expanding populations and other human pressures.

The heart of “Stories of Water” is the powerful photos our volunteer photographers have take of the people benefiting from safe drinking water or new sanitation.  Combined with stories and interviews, these photos make the argument for clean water more effectively than any official report ever could.

The stories also highlight the tremendous work of our Blue Planet Network members, 100+ organizations working in 27 countries, toward the common goal of eradicating the global water crisis once and for all.  The more Blue Planet Network can spotlight our partners’ effective work, the stronger awareness of the global water crisis will become.  We work daily to turn awareness of the crisis into concrete action that will bring more safe drinking water to those in need.  This is our common passion and priority.

By going through the photos, and reading the accompanying stories, we hope you get a real sense of what safe drinking water can do to change lives.  We hope you connect with the people whose stories we are telling and understand how hard they are working to provide a better life for their communities.

As more and more photographers share their work with us, “Stories of Water” will grow.  We will capture all the pictures and stories here, in one place, so that you can revisit them, see how the story is expanding, and leave your comments about what you see…and what you will do about it.

We encourage you to let us know what you think and how we can make “Stories of Water” even better.  We hope you, our Blue Planet Network community, will be inspired to send in your stories, pictures and videos of how water affects your lives and where you have seen the importance of safe drinking water in your travels around the world.  Together, we can celebrate water and how important it is to every aspect of life.  Together, we can document where safe drinking water is needed, and work to make sustainable safe drinking water a right, and not a privilege, for all.

Thanks to our Blue Planet Network water partners for the tremendous work you do.  Thanks to PhotoPhilanthropy for motivating amateur and professional photographers to use their powerful skills for the good of others.  Thanks to every member of the Blue Planet Network community for spreading the word about water and taking action.  And, most importantly, thanks to all the people around the world in need of safe drinking water who work every day for better lives for themselves and their families.

Water is life.  Pass it on.
