Jon was a volunteer photographer for Blue Planet Network and went to Nicaragua in August 2010 to document projects completed by Agua Para La Vida and El Porvenir. He hopes his photographs and interviews better inform people of the worldwide water/sanitation crisis, humanize the beneficiaries, and highlight the hard-working folks at the NGOs. The people he met on this trip were truly unbelievable in their hospitality, humility, and perseverance.
This experience was so remarkable and worthwhile, it inspired Jon to alter his life goals. He switched his academic focus from photography to civil & environmental engineering and hopes to return to NGO work as an engineer in the near future. He currently resides in Seattle, Washington with the love of his life and their pet cat.
